Request from Patron for friend in Kingdom of Atenveldt.   Sir Rhys ap Trahaearn made Knight in AS LVII.  Following style of  “Gospels of Henry the Lion” made circa 1142-1195.   Inspiration taken from “Ascension” plate with details from history of Sir Rhys.  Space below illumination needed for Atenveldt specific Law – seal and signature from Principal Herald.

Materials being Pergamenta, natural pigments and Gold leaf on highlights used throughout.  Colors palette limited to simulate appearance of original, while also interpreting and modifying for modern eye.  Calligraphic hand used different style from original for space attention. 

Text being as :

“We, Mark et Katrina, Rex et Regina

Atenveldt, are pleased to acknowledge the martial achievement of our Subject Rhys ap Trahaearn, recognizing his prowess with blade and chivalric duty, and elevate him to our Order of the Chivalry.  We do bestow unto him arms by letters Patent, to wit: Argent, on a pale between four pairs of arrows inverted crossed in saltire sable, a wolf’s head cabossed between two pairs of arrows inverted crossed in saltire argent.   We set our hand to witness therof this 7th day of September, Anno Societatis LVII, being the 2022nd year in the Common reckoning.”
